"Ta-Uta " 1993

Inspired by the beauty of nature and the cold winters and the shrine festival in summer, I have recorded Ta-Uta. Ta-uta is the name of our village. I have used Cello, Shakuhachi and the Guitar. Also there are 2 titles with live sessions with Tsugaru guitar player Nakamura Yoshimitsu.

"DEAI"

This CD was sponsered by a german Company in Tokyo. The idea was to bring together classic style guitar music and traditionnel Shakuhachi-Music. Masaru Kakei was strongly influenced by spanish and southamerican composers. The shakuhachipart consists of a traditionnal "honkyoku tsuru-no-sukomori" and several original pieces.. Titels like: "Walking on the edge of a cliff" or "Improvisations during the work in the fields" give an idea of the development of the music. Living in the country-side in Japan, participating in village life and practicing sui-Zen, walking up the mountains with the mountain ascets while playing the shakuhachi as a constant training leaves no Space for a I-would-like-to-express-myself-sound.
